Do Nets have D-Will to win? (via ESPN.com)

Let’s get this out of the way right now.

The New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets both made deals this week that will shape the complexion of their respective franchises for years to come. The Knicks are officially Eastern Conference contenders because of Carmelo Anthony’s arrival. The Nets upgraded considerably with the acquisition of Deron Williams.

But for those who think New Jersey made a better deal than New York, here’s some advice: Get your head examined!

Williams is an All-Star. He’s incredibly gifted. Aside from Derrick Rose, he’s the best point guard in the game. Combine that with playing alongside a legitimate big man in Brook Lopez, and decent things are on the horizon for the Nets.

For this season!

Next season is an entirely different matter, specifically because Williams will be in the last year of his deal and can opt out of his contract in 2012. The disaster scenario is staring Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov squarely in the face. It’s a scenario that could have Williams, from a vantage point just across the Hudson River, witnessing the resurgence of a Knicks franchise inching to within an All-Star point guard of legitimate championship contention. Now imagine Williams as the missing piece, with Gotham City clamoring for his arrival.

If that happens, and the Nets continue their struggling ways, why would Williams stay?

    Dear Stephen A.,

I am a great admirer of you and your remarkable talent. As a fellow North Carolinian, I am proud of your progress. My son turned me on to First Take years ago, and now I arrange my schedule around your show.

I hope that you will be able to overcome this latest bump in the road regarding an alleged comment made by you on yesterday. I was watching and I did not hear it.

I do not like your present moderator, Cari or whatever her name is. I think that she is very disrespectful to you and I hope that her tenure is brief and that some of the other more colorful and talented cohostesses will return.

I am one of your biggest 64 year old fans, and I think that you are the best dressed commentator on tv.

    Sincerely,
    Rita L. Brown

    The Boston Celtics. The End!

The Pittsburgh STEELERS with a running game. The End!

    A Cornhusker til the End.

Go GREEN, Go Big RED or put on Black and Gold….

The End! And, they all lived happily ever after…

When it comes down to it basketball in New York the Nets have the advantage as far at the 1 matchup but not the x factor at the 3. I’ll take Gerald Wallace once out of seven against Melo at the most. The Knicks are the far superior team even if Mr. Stoudimire starts or not., No I’m not forgetting Joe Johnson but truth be told there not enough to stop the Knicks in the postseason which really counts in the end.
